A static code encodes your content directly in the image and works forever without any server. A dynamic code encodes a short redirect URL owned by the provider, which lets you edit the destination and track scans — but the code dies if the provider or your subscription lapses.
Why do QR codes from other "free" generators stop working?
Because they silently give you a dynamic code tied to a trial account. When the trial ends, the redirect server rejects the scan. Your printed materials are then worthless unless you pay.
Is there a scan limit on free codes?
